I bought the latest 1950 pro agp card, first time for ati What a piece of crap, they don't deserve a place on the market. This is the biggest ripoff I've ever seen.I've spent weeks trying to get this piece of crap to perform.Crash, crash thats all it does well.I gained very few fps on UT3 and lost alot on utk4. My 6600gt kept up with this card and my 7600gt blows it away. The software sucks the worst catalyst bs.I wouldn't except this thing if they handed it out for free. This crappy ass card is suppose to be the fastest agp card out there BS!I'm on the laptop now cause of another crash do to that stupid piece of SHIT! ATI kiss my ASS!(insert big finger here)

I used to love ATI, their drivers used to work and the card were awesome. but something has changed though, the last two ATI cards I bought were enough to make me hate ATI for awhile. both NEW cards came with a non-functional CD so I couldn't install drivers, their website seems to cram tons of drivers into one, and once I got those fixed...the thing still crashed my pc now and then.

I hope ATI gets their shit together soon, because they are drowning themselves with their own bad products.

now, maybe their PCI-e stuff is better....I don't know

Like I said last night, switching from nvidia to ati and vice versa can also lead to issues if all the previous companies drivers etc are not removed. It's almost like they leave bait for each other to corrupt installations.

I like my ATI , I'm sorry you are having such a frustrating time with your's Freak.
I'll do a little research and see if i can find any known issues with your setup.

ati makes two driver packages, catalyst and wdm. the catalyst drivers i remember sucked. Remove the device and install the wdm drivers from safe mode. I'm not so sure about ati on an nvidia chipset either, makes sure your chipset is up to date.

Might help i dunno

New egg link-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161071

Went back to my 7600 gt with it I never drop below 60 fps,no matter what utk4 map and usually stays pegged at 84 avg.The Ati on some maps was 12-13 fps.The 7600 hits over 1000fps between maps, the ati was 300fps.:mad:I bought it hoping to raise my fps in UT3.There is a slight increase there but not enough to put up with the other bs.Since reinstalling the fps are higher with the 7600gt in UT3.

Something is definitely wrong with the ATI card or the drivers because according to Tom's hardware that 1950 should run circles around the 7600.

It's for sale at bargain price, blue light special.lol I believe the software is the problem.I did try both,I dowloaded the latest from ATI(AMD now) first. Then uninstalled and tried the driver it came with. There is also a net frames conflict between the 2 different drivers. The newer driver accepts my current net frames but the older driver insists on installing net frames. The Ghost Recon it came with never would play. This card is actually a higher 1 that shown at Tom's it has 512mb.All I know is my 7600gt blows it away on this machine.

You haven't had it 30 days have you?

Why not just do a return?

yeah fork it, send it back and try another one.

night ranger runs x1950's i think, he loves 'em. but that agp8x thing worries me. the bus might not be able to handle the speeds correctly.

Ahh, there is a catch. This card is exchange for the same only.

Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy

Return for refund within: non-refundable
Return for replacement within: 30 daysThis is our Detailed Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy. Products that state "This item is covered by Newegg.com's Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy", or items labeled as “Non-refundable” (or similar labeling) must be returned to Newegg.com within 30 days of the invoice date for this policy to apply. Products covered by this return policy may only be returned for a replacement of the same item.

I'm sure it's not the card itself.

We played today with Massive Nuts,it was (cant remember the map name) a terrible fps map and 1 of them was complaining on the lag.I told them it's the map. This where the ati dropped to 12fps and today my 7600 never went below 60 fps.

exchange it, its the only option you have apparently. do what you can. if the second doesn't work then its prolly user error :D

PCIE x 16 is indeed 4 times faster than AGP 8x, but here is where the myth that you REALLY need that come in. There are NO current games out that the AGP 8x can't handle. Take a look at this benchmark result for 3DMark06.

http://h-townmadness.com/images/3dm06.gif

The score difference between the pcie and agp 8x is very slight. If you have ever run 3DMark06 you know that it gives the rig a good run. I could nail, a solid 85fps in any map with my x850xt pe that was 8x apg. This 1950 is twice as fast as that card.

*EDIT* I found this on a forum concerning the x1950 pro :

Guy #1 "I experienced what sounds like the same problem that you are having with one of these cards. I found that increasing the “AGP Aperture” setting in the system’s BIOS resolved it.

Hope that helps…"

Guy #2 "OMG you totally made my day/week/MONTH!

I had it set to 128MB which I figured would be plenty full (I don't want my games using the system ram right?)
So with the GT this is half the amount, but since the Pro has more mem, this would explain it.

Thank you Dadeos! you are my hero"

The funny thing is the UT3 demo gave the card no problems...it was 2k4 that bogged it. That tells me it goes beyond the card itself and that something else was causing issues.
