Shield Gun usage

Ok....something I'm sure most of you know, but I've recently discovered. The shield gun can be a very useful weapon, it protects you from most weapons fire. It can also turn an enemies weapon fire on himself if used right. I found an enemy chasing me and they shot a secondary plasma ball from shock rifle. When I pulled shield before he could fire his primary shot,it deflected the ball and killed him. I thought it rocked....really surprised the attacker as well :)

Also use your shiels when jumping from high places...hold below you to lessen the damage taken during fall. ;)

Usually you'll find me running around with the LG, loaded goop or the shield gun. However I don't use the shield until I need to as it makes noise.

Yes, noise is a HUGE part of the game and minimizing it is very important. Very appropriate that SJ picked it as the first tip that he gave out . :)

Oh, something that's fun to do with the shieldgun.....

Say you're in close quarters and your opponent is using flak or rockets and you know he's damaged. Just jump towards him using the shield secondary and he'll blow himself up when he hits you. You might take a little damage, but it's fun and it gives you a chance to do the Nelson laugh (funee). :D

you can use your shield gun to so in the dark also.

you can use the Sg to get players to high places in the map If someone charges the Sg and somone jumps on top of that person useing the defence part of the Sg you can get boosted,sorta like booting with instagib.

Been thinking that I really need to start using the shield. Been doing alot of running away when someone gets the mini out. :roll:

I'm having trouble binding the shield gun to activate the shield with 1 key bind, then upon release switch to last weapon. These are the ones that I have been trying but they both will just switch to alt fire shield without activating it. I then have to press again to activate and upon release it switches back to last weapon.

Are you using the 3369 patch?

Odd...are you holding the button? With mine, I hold the middle mouse and (while still holding) it brings up the shield and activates it. When I let go I get my last weapon back.

Oh, and this worked in 3339 and 3369 for me.

z = SwitchWeapon 1|AltFire|OnRelease SwitchToLastWeapon

hitting the z button will bring out the shield gun and holding the z button will keep the shield out... letting go will put u back on your flak or rox or lg or whatever...

the SG can be useing all them ways but the SG don't protect your feet or your head if your good with the lg and try to get headshots,but evin if u can't get headshots the SG can be killed off with a lg shot,my suggestions is to shoot the player with the lg once and link him after,the link gun will will take the shield down fast as well.
