great! 3 bombs have gone off. just great. now we can hardly go anywhere without the worry of bombs, one was like 3km's from where we are staying. there was one in a steak noodle house. we still are gonna stay though, i think we are safe ebcause we are in a bali run hotel, not american, they are targeting american, australian run hotels and busineses. well we are all allright. 19-20 dead about 70+ injured.
these guys dont know when to quit... :?

i know scary shit... we are not goign anywhere for a while. my sister and i know 2 people that where sitting on the same spot where the bombs went off. like about 2hrs before they went off. we arent going to kuta for a while. staying around legian (the hotel area)

yeah but i always think i see people carrying detonaters and stuff. its very different then hearing it over in aus then being in the area when they go off.

Ditto man.

It's truly depressing on a personal level now. For American's particularly, terrorism used to be a "remote" phenomenon. Something to shake your head at and be smugly satisfied that you lived in the USA - and that's still true to some extent... yet is it really? It is safer on American soil than any number of other places on this sometimes cold, grey planet. Yet in a way, we have become prisoners in our own paradise. More and more places are just too dangerous to visit.

And I fear it is only going to get worse. I think I read somewhere that at the current birthrate/deathrate the population of the earth is expected to double from the base year of 2000 to 2050. Double?! If it was just me, I could shrug and be happy that I won't be around. But now I have two daughters, five and ten. Should I worry about what sort of hand the world will deal them after I'm gone? Of all the things that change for you when you become a parent, I think the most unexpected is the naked sense of vulnerability you feel. Now I'm starting to feel down right scared. Not for myself, but for my children's future. It's truly depressing on a personal level now.

I know what you mean Jak. Although I don't have any children, my Nephew (4) and my Niece (2) are my biggest concerns. Every single day I sit and wonder what kind of future they may have to deal with (or perhaps no future at all). I remember back in the 60s through the 80s when we'd have small wars or the economy was screwed up, the gas crisis.... Honestly, even the 90s weren't that bad. But since we've started this new millennium I don't know, maybe because I'm growing older and I'm paying more attention to things now, but it seems we are truely on a downward spiral. Chaos has been unleashed upon the masses and honestly, does anyone truly feel safe anymore?

Something's gotta give, something's gotta break soon. It seems most of the world's population is stressed out, fear factor is being pumped at an all time high. You can't go on the internet, listen to the radio, watch TV or even pick up a newspaper\magazine without being hit with bad news, terrorist attacks, the war, nature gone haywire......

It's kind of spooky... :?
