Regarding memory for my pc and ut2k7 questions [Archive]

first of all will i be able to see the diffarance in my pc if i up the memory from 512 to lets say 768 or something like that. and also does anyone know what the pc requirements are for ut2k7? i mean that is a big time worrie on my end cause guess what when everyone else is playing ut2k7 i want to too dang it lol well let me know i would greatly appreaciate it thanks guys and gals :P

i have some question s on my computer specs... should i change AMD Sempron 3000+ to a pentium 4? if so what are the advantages? Graphis...imm using Nvidea 6200 oc (256 mb), at the beginning of a map i seem to lag alot for about 20 seconds, is that the result of graphic card or is that because of my proccessor which is 2gh,but everything after that 20 sec's run's smooth as butter.can this be fixed?

A sempron has less onboard cache than a P4...this makes a big difference in the game. If you upgraded and ran at least a gig of memory...you would definetly notice the difference. Think about it..you are 1v1 with a guy with a faster pc...you both react at the same time...which one of you dies?

I wouldn't go sempron->P4 That would require a motherboard change. I think you should be able to change out just your cpu for an "athlon" cpu...it has more onboard cache than a sempron. Correct me if I'm wrong you AMD guys out there.

I would just increase the memory to 1gig at this time. Then when ut2007 rolls out we will have a better idea of what you will need to upgrade. The memory will help, but also check your ping for the first 20sec of each game. Could also be your ping settling. Regardless, the memory will help.

Thats about all I would do ET (increase to gig) and hope that ut2007 will run well on your laptop. There isnt much you can economically do with a laptop as far as upgrades go. Depending on resolution and refresh rates etc you might be pluging into another monitor.
