Stem cell reaserch whats your view

Well, I think that alot of stuff can go wrong with it trying to creat more orgens and stuff some may be un useable and then we get into cloneing and stuff what is there a shortage of sheep or someting i dont know about.?

Stem cell research and deployment is really a lot more than cloning. They've actually injected stem cells into a patient with sickle-cell anemia and they migrated to where they were needed and they started producing normal red blood cells. Not 100%, but they became appreciably better.

If your own personal stem cells could be mined at birth or pre-birth and saved for use in the event of your illness, what's the issue in that? And imagine if stem cells could be "trained" for a particular function. You get sick and there is a strain available for your particular life threatening malady. A cure! Not a treatment. The possibilities are mind boggling.

I have said often that I was either born too late (...the cannons don't thunder, there's nothing to plunder, I'm an over forty victim of fate, arriving too late...arriving too late*) or born too early (my kids will live to be over 100). If I was born 200 years ago, I'd be a pirate. If I was born two hundreds from now, I'd probably have 200 years of life... oh, and I'd still be a pirate at heart. ;-)

It'll happen. The religous right will lose their might! It's inevitable. Nothing lasts forever. Christianity and all religions will eventually go the way of the Egyptians or the Mesopatomians or whatever civilization and religous baggage came before them. It is the way of life. It's like George Carlin says in one of his best bits, called "The Planet is Fine." "Save The Planet? Nobody needs to Save The Planet. The planet doesn't need saving. The planet is fine. It's us who are leaving. The Earth will eventually shake us off like a bad case of fleas." Kinda like the way civilization will shake off religion and all it's fanaticism one day.
