i was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to give me some tips on how to improve my aim either by a suggestion or links maybe a suggestion on exercises.as far as my opinon goes i would just like to say i read the high horse post and i understand where he is comming from but also look at my perspective i am a nice guy i dont like talking trash i just wanna have fun and get better yesterday i ran across some htm players and was in awe of thier skills.when i saw they had a tips and tricks section i got happy because i could get answers and help to help me be more competitive and enjoy the game more.my first reaction to this forum was happiness and appreciation then i saw the high horse thread and just wanted you guys to understand how much it means to others to have axcess to this information we cant let the jerks ruin it for us who need help and by not helping others turn you guys into primadonnas who wont help peeps and im not saying that you are just dont let the jerks ruin it for everyone, but you can pay the jerks back by teaching others how to get better and then everyone can kill the jerks ive found most jerks arent that great anyways thats why they talk so much i played on my first htm server last night after work even though i was tired and my reaction time was slow i kept playing because they were good and thier were so many awsome shots if i get a good kill on some one or they do on me it feels awsome either way id rather die by a good shot anyday its all about the competition and the tactics i love it thats what is fun htm owned me for the most part but i got a lot of good shots in myself i have to say that htms players are top notch and i enjoyed playing against them even if they did use me for target practice :P

Hello Gawd...

It was fun having you in the server. :)

HTM is a great clan..we are mostly older players who play for fun. Thanks for the compliments.

The most important thing I think of when it comes to aim is careful crosshair selection, and actually watching your crosshair and not your opponent. I keep my weapon hidden and use modified custom crosshairs for each weapon, that way I know what weapon I have up without looking at the weapons bar...as a matter of fact I have no weapons bar..I hide that too.

I hope this answers your question, and thanks for stopping by.

i dono if this would work for you but,I use one crosshiar and i max out the scale to make it big and set a color that you don't see in the seen mutch in the game, i inprove shots by useing the Lg and Shock more then other guns.

Aim has never been my strongsuit, so it might not be best to listen to me lol.

But, I always found that the small high contrast x-hairs helped my hitscan aim. I liked the ttm dot with the black outline, and made a custom somewhat based on this concept. Also, make sure it's a high contrast crosshair, I use bright fuscia - great on almost every map.

I think aim, for the most part, is something you either have or don't. You can try help it with some of the following:

1) In general, slower mouse speeds will help aim
2) Small crosshair (see above)
3) Use "aim necessary" guns like the LG and shock instead of spam
4) Play Instagib
5) Make sure you're getting smooth frames, lower detail if necessary
6) Make sure you have a good connection (<70 ms)
7) Look at a good mouse and mouse surface

That being said, some people are just naturally gifted when it comes to that and some aren't (like me).

You can still be a pretty good player with only decent aim. If you feel you've plateued with your aim, look at defense, tactics, map control, and movement as other areas where you can improve.

Not very UT specific but...USE PROPER PUNCTUATION ON LONG POSTS. or at least break it up into a few paragraphs. I kept losing my place in the paragraph due to my own A.D.D.

Its very difficult to read your post...lol

even tho this post is a litle dated (July 2, 05)

The dude might be gone but I thought of something to add that some may not have thought of trying yet....

Decrease your FOV to 80. Everything is a bit closer, and things appear to move slower = easier to hit!

Of course this means you can't see as much around you, but if you're like me, you're looking around all the time anyway.

I use dot reverse as my crosshair: red outline with black center.
