"WITCH-CONSIN"
Several people in Wisconsin have accused a 27 year old man of duping them out of their money. The man claimed to be a witch doctor that could perform rituals to help with money, love or health troubles. He bought his ritual material from the Halloween department at Wal-Mart....WAL-MART!!! These people decided they had been scammed AFTER they gave him the money and had him perform the ritual. Actually, I think maybe it did work on some level... I'll bet everyone of these people are a little WISER than they were before the "ritual"... heh, heh.

A production of Mozart's Idomeneo has been cancelled because a scene in the opera depicts the severed heads of Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed and Poseidon. The scene is a statement condemning organized religion... ALL ORGANIZED RELIGION. The director of the opera house scrapped the show due to the fear of reprisal from muslim extremists. Many are angry over the decision. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said: "self-censorship out of fear is not tolerable." I could not agree more.
The opera house director states that she does not want to endanger anyone's life over something as trivial as an opera. Her heart may be in the right place, even if her head is not. If she thinks something as trivial as an opera will evoke a life-endangering response from terrorists, then how does she think they'll react about something that really "matters". Where does it end? If we are are prepared to take even one step backward, then we should just concede across the board and send a message to all extremists that intimidation works on us, so feel free to continue it.

(I usually hate to quote a columnist, but this is spot-on) "For too long, radical Muslims have behaved like the spoiled children of the planet, throwing temper tantrums .. violence and the threat thereof .. to get their way. Any seasoned parent can tell you that giving in to tantrums only ensures more tantrums."

I saw an article on-line with the headline: "Woman dies after being shot in the head". Mind you, I'm not saying that is funny. It isn't. I just find that choice of headline comical. Of course she died. She was shot in the head!
"PETA'S CREDIBILITY"
Six Flags is sponsoring a contest in conjunction with the up-coming Halloween festivities where guests are invited to eat a cock-roach or even try and break the world cock-roach eating record. Participants get all sorts of prizes ranging from season passes to line-jumping privileges. PETA is outraged. An official PETA statement said "Insects do not deserve to be eaten alive especially for a gratuitous marketing gimmick". I don't mind people fighting for the rights of vertebrates if that's what they believe, but I draw the line at taking ANYONE seriously when the phrase "Insects rights" leaves their mouth. Billions upon billions of insects are eaten by all sorts of other creatures everyday.
I have a question or two: When PETA members find out that their homes are being destroyed by termites, do they call Orkin? When they see a fire-ant colony in their backyard, do they bust out the Amdro? Better yet, when they find out that the itch in their scalp isn't merely dandruff, but head-lice, do they seek treatment? How about tapeworms & maggots? In my opinion the day you make a statement about the rights of insects, (some species of which live a day or two), you're saying that every other single thing on the face of the planet is absolutely perfect and there are no other pressing issues to be discussed or fixed. I have always respected PETA for what they stood for although I don't agree with 100% of what they say, but when they took issue with this, their credibility just scurried under the nearest baseboard.
